At EASA we have more than 800 staff members coming from all over Europe with different backgrounds and experience. Find out more why our colleagues enjoy what they are doing and what makes EASA for them a great place to work at.

Meet Elena (Structures Expert & PCM)

In 2009 I moved from Spain to join EASA. From the first day of my arrival in Cologne I felt welcome by my neighbours and I am comfortable living here.

My job involves certifying airplane designs. During the certification process we work together with manufacturers to make sure that the design is safe and complies with the regulations.

I see a sense of purpose in my work …
when we find a solution to prevent or mitigate a possible unsafe condition, in a reasonable and proportionate way for the manufacturer.

In my daily work ...
I enjoy having interesting engineering discussions. For example, we try to understand the most critical aspects of a structure, and make sure there is sufficient evidence, to show it will withstand operational loads.

EASA has offered me the opportunity …
to be involved in very interesting research and standardization activities, and to draw the Sunny Swift safety comic for general aviation pilots.

I appreciate …
EASA’s attention to Diversity and Inclusion and wellbeing. When my children were younger, I managed to conciliate work and family with flexible arrangements.

Meet Ludovic (EASA Representative USA)

I am basically an Ambassador of the Agency with the mission to enhance transatlantic cooperation on Aviation Safety and beyond.

I was offered this opportunity at the best moment in my professional and personal life …
After a great accomplishment in my previous role (having led the team in charge of returning safely to service the Boeing 737 max in Europe following the deadly accident in Ethiopia) and at a time when my family was ready to take up this life-changing challenge of moving to the United States.

From Washington DC …
I monitor the evolution of the US regulation, the research activities and the developments in the aerospace industry, while I promote our own EU / EASA regulation and research programme and support the EU industry to ease their access to the US market.

I like that my job makes me travel …
at a frequency compatible both with my thirst for learning new things and meeting new people, and with keeping a healthy family life.

My best memories from last year are …
that I finally got to visit the world-renowned Air Venture in Oshkosh and could meet in the vibrant Silicon Valley with the CEOs of some of the most innovative Advanced Air Mobility companies.

Meet Hamdy (Flight Test Pilot - Rotary Wing)

To continuously ensure the safe operations of the EU rotorcraft fleets ...
I am providing my expertise and experience on flight test and human factors aspects both for initial airworthiness and continuous airworthiness aspects. I participate to several research and rulemaking processes in the domain of rotorcraft certification, operations, and training.

I perform commercial air operations as a co-pilot ...
with EU operators to keep up to date with rotorcraft community and their current challenges.

I enjoy a good balance between desk and flying time ...
in average I have about one week of flying per month and about 100 flight hours per year.

As EASA flight test pilot ...
I am given a chance to be a main player participating to the decision-making processes that contribute to enable safe rotorcraft operations, and the development of the framework that will host new technologies such as Vertical and Take-off aircrafts (VTOLs) and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). I can see the real impact of my work on aircraft designs and EASA policy on these domains.

My personal tip when you consider applying for this job at EASA ...
study thoroughly the EASA regulations and demonstrate your commitment during the application and selection phase.

Meet Eszter (Safety Information Coordination Assistant)

My job is to …
ensure the consistent and timely publication, as well as dissemination of Airworthiness Directives and Safety Information Bulletins. In addition, I am involved in projects with colleagues from various teams and backgrounds and together we improve the processes and tools.

I find it rewarding …
to be involved in projects that improve quality and bring more efficiency and cohesion to the aviation community. Working with inspiring colleagues in the dynamic environment of the aviation industry is truly motivating and broadens my skills and competencies.

The EASA community is very active …
by organising various social events throughout the year and offering a wide selection of social clubs, all maintained by volunteers. Over the years, I enjoyed yoga, bioenergetics and other workshops arranged by our multi-talented colleagues.

Cologne is vibrant city …
bubbling with arts, culture and tradition. The locals are very friendly and tolerant. It is a great place for families offering international schools, many parks for outdoor activities, sports clubs and historical sights.
