Job Overview

Maintenance Organisation Expert

As a Maintenance Organisation Expert, you will join a highly skilled and motivated team of experts, being responsible for the approval of Maintenance Organisations (MOA), Maintenance Training Organisations (MTOA), Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisations (CAMO), Combined Airworthiness Organisations (CAO) and related safety oversight, both for initial demonstration of compliance and continued surveillance. In addition, you will support other core technical activities of the Agency.

 

Aircraft Maintenance Expert

As an Aircraft Maintenance Expert, you will serve as Maintenance Review Board/ Maintenance Type Board (MRB/MTB) Chairperson and Advisor across multiple projects, providing leadership in maintenance program development. Actively participates in MRB/MTB, Industry Steering Committee (ISC), and Maintenance Working Group (MWG) meetings within and outside the EU to promote international alignment in maintenance standards. In addition, you will support other core technical activities of the Agency.

General Accountabilities

• In the respective domain provide essential and unique expertise to influence and permit decisions which contribute to regulatory development and compliance management to enhance aviation safety.

• Proactively monitor and stay ahead of technological developments in the field / respective domain. Anticipate emerging trends and drive innovation to ensure systems and processes remain at the forefront of safety and efficiency in aviation.

• Contribute to rule drafting, transposing technical and policy inputs into regulatory matters, provide clarifications on the interpretation of rules, manage stakeholder inputs.

• Plan, execute, and complete projects as part of the wider Agency programs in the domain and/or beyond, managing resources, timelines, budgets, and teams related to it.

• Support the Agency’s internal and external training programs by providing expertise in relevant areas and ensuring continuous learning for stakeholders involved in compliance and safety processes.

 

Specific Accountabilities

Maintenance Organisation Expert

• Manage the approval of Maintenance Organisations, Maintenance Training Organisations, Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisations and Combined Airworthiness Organisations inside and outside the EU

• Efficiently conduct the investigation of organisations for both initial demonstration of capability and continued surveillance in accordance with EASA internal procedures and work instructions

• Monitor the performance of approved organisations and provide relevant inputs for the risk-based oversight

• Lead teams of technical experts

• Provide expertise to other core activities of the Agency, including but not limited to product certification, design organisation approval, international cooperation, rulemaking and standardisation of Member States

• Present the Agency’s positions at related events (conferences, workshops, advisory bodies, ICAO, etc.)

 

Aircraft Maintenance Expert

• Act as MRB/MTB Chairperson and MRB/MTB Advisor on various projects

• Develop Candidate Issue Papers for discussions at the International Maintenance Review Board Policy Board meetings

• Participate in MRB/MTB meetings inside and outside the EU, such as Industry Steering Committee (ISC) and Maintenance Working Group (MWG)

• Provide expertise to specific rulemaking activities

• Provide expertise to the other sections of the Maintenance and Production Department within the Flight Standards Directorate, as necessary

• Provide expertise to the Certification Directorate in the frame of Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and other Type Certification related activities

 

Admission Criteria

The following constitute eligibility and essential criteria for the role and for being admitted to the selection process. Candidates not fulfilling these criteria by the deadline for applications, will be excluded from the selection:

 

• Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the European Union (at least level C1) and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the EU to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties (at least level B2). One of the required languages shall be English [1]

• Be a national of a Member State of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland

• Completed university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma in aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other relevant subjects in the scope of the profile

 

Maintenance Organisation Expert

• At least 2 years of professional experience as an auditor in the continuing airworthiness domain

• Work experience of at least one complex motor-powered aircraft type managed by the approved organisation

 

Aircraft Maintenance Expert

• At least 2 years of professional experience in MRB/MTB processes and knowledge of related administrative and technical procedures in the relevant fields of aircraft certification or maintenance approval from either Industry or National Authorities

Maintenance Organisation Expert

• Training and basic knowledge of Part-IS and cybersecurity aspects

 

Aircraft Maintenance Expert

• Training and basic knowledge of aircraft condition-based maintenance

 

This vacancy is open as well to Temporary Agents (2f) employed at EASA, in the grade bracket AD5- AD9

Selection Process
